Frequently asked questions about BEL and BEL.bio

BEL is an open-standard language for biology. It is freely usable by anyone without attribution. All of the tooling developed by BEL.bio is Apache 2.0 open source licensed. Where possible, we make data/content (e.g. BEL nanopubs and BEL resources such as namespaces) using the CC BY 4.0. We only use more restrictive licenses if the source database requires it.
